Ever since the environmental movement began, there has been a fundamental clash between the self-serving interests of Big Business and the broader interests of humanity and Mother Earth. But as this New York Times article reports, Big Business is now discovering that killing Mother Earth is bad business, because it is she, after all, who sustains us all – whether it is on a biological, social or economic level.
I believe that the day that hope dawns for our environment is the day we fundamentally selfish humans realise how inextricably tied our interests are to those of Mother Earth. The trend described in the article brings us one significant step closer towards that day. The question in my mind is, will it come too late?
